Efootball: Konami admits that the new PES is just a better demo to the launch
Konami has left the cat from the sack a few days ago: PES is past. Instead, the football simulation is now called Efootball. And not only that, Efootball is a digital platform with a Free2Play model that replaces annual offshoots through regular updates.
A better demo: The Roadmap published by Konami caused abdominal pain for some fans, because apparently we can play for the launch only friendly matches with only nine teams. That sounds like a demo, and Konami admits that this impression does not deceive:
"In many ways, yes, [it's a demo]. We want you to put your hands as early as possible to Efootball, so we start with a limited number of teams and modes."

Efootball takes time
So do not expect a full game to the launch. Microtransactions will not give it no. Only at a later date will you be able to unlock other game modes and teams against money. How exactly that should work is not known yet.
No Lootboxes: The statements of Konami are relatively vague, but it seems as if there is no microtransactions aka "special agents" in Efootball. This "lottery system" from its predecessor should be replaced by a Battle Pass ("Match Pass"), thanks to which you can earn new content. It will probably be, similar to for example at Fortnite, give a free and a paid version.
Here you can watch the Reveal trailer for Efootball:
When does Efootball appear? There is not an accurate release date yet, but Efootball should come in early autumn for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and PC. Later, versions for Android and iOS should follow. CrossSplay is planned, but in full but only from winter.

The Free2Play model could still be the winner
Even if the concept for the launch sounds like a damper, Free2Play could in the long run as a salvation charm for football simulations. There are more and more players who want to gamble only one aspect, such as the career mode or the online leagues, but still to pay for the complete package.
Also to FIFA there are now rumors, according to which the series is to be FIFA 23 Free2play.
What do you think of the Free2Play model of Efootball?
