New RPG on Steam shows how interaction works without chat
Interact with other players is an integral part of a multiplayer game. That this can work completely without chat, you want to show you Book of Travels (Windows / Mac / Linux) and now introduces its unusual system in a video.
What is a TMORPG? Book of Travels strokes the "massive" in MMORPG and replaces it through "Tiny". On a server, a maximum of 30 players should be on the move at the same time while experiencing their own adventure.
The focus is with Book of Travels but clearly the RPG. So you explore an exciting world and experiences a story. In addition and rarely, you should also meet other players with whom you can then interact, but that without chat.
How does the interaction work? Even if you do not forcibly combine yourself in Book of Travels with other players, the interaction with other travelers should be a climax for the gaming experience. The developers therefore decided to do without a chat.
So you remain only the communication about emotes left, of which there are many, but still much intuitive will happen. A special form of challenge offer the newly presented "end aviages".
What are endavours? The tasks come in four different categories therefore:
- Physical tasks: These end aviages are only about strength. You can handle them alone, but they go with another player faster from the hand. Here you can expect things, such as stones from a way to clear.
- Mystic tasks: They form a way to interact with the magical side of the world. These are also easy to solve alone, but can also be solved together. These are tasks such as praying at a shrine or together.
- Social tasks: This is about interacting with the NPCs in the world. You will find, among other things, teachers who want to teach you nothing. But you can bring them with these tasks.
- Mechanical tasks: Most other games would probably call as a puzzle. They should make a lot of fun with several players and also have the greatest influence on the game. As an example of a mechanical task, the developer calls the repair of a boat to travel to a new part of the world.
In this video, the developer introduces the end aviage more precisely:
The end aviages are all designed so that you do not necessarily have to solve them and have no time pressure. So you can return to the task at any time to solve them another time.
That interaction with other players can work well have already proven games like Journey and Meadow. The latter is even from the same developer as Book of Travels.
When can you play? An accurate release date is not yet available. However, the game starts after a shift for three weeks on August 30 in the early acces phase on Steam (via Steam).
