Horizon Zero Dawn: 60 FPS

Horizon Zero Dawn is now also available with a proper upgrade for the PS5. This means that you can now finally play the outstanding PS4 game on the PS5 with a significantly higher frame rate of 60 FPS. That makes a tremendous difference and looks much chic, as the technology experts of Digital Foundry explain. You have almost nothing to complain about the PS5 update, it leaves almost nothing to be desired.

Horizon Zero Dawn: PS5 upgrade with 60 fps leaves almost nothing to be desired

This brings the patch: similar to the PS5 patches to God of War, Ghost of Tsushima or Days Gone is mainly removed by the frame rate limit of 30 fps. So the game can finally be displayed with up to 60 fps and of course looks clearly smoother. Otherwise, the graphics are actually untouched, but the difference is nevertheless remarkable.

Great performance and more: The technology experts from Digital Foundry praise the very stable frame rate of 60 fps. There are no offices or FPS drops. In addition, the internal streaming and reloading of details such as figures, geometry and textures was also improved. This means that, for example, we can recognize less visible pop-ins in Meridian. The charging times were also significantly shortened.

Digital Foundry's Alex Battaglia praises:

I would designate the performance as a spotless.

Not all PC improvements: One of the tiny small movement drops in this otherwise successful PS5 update represents the fact that it is actually only a PS4 pro-upgrade. This is meant that it does not have all the improvements that have come to wear in the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn, also took the new PS5 version.

For example, we still have to do without native 4k rendering on the PS5. That's not bad because even the checkerboard solution thanks to the higher frames looks much better and more pleasant. Also, some special effects such as anisotropic filters are significantly lower than on the PC and the interaction with the vegetation is not possible.

All in all, the update gives us the reason enough to play the great game together with more frames with more frames. Time enough we now have: The successor Horizon: Forbidden West was recently postponed to 2022.

Have you already tried the PS5 patch? How do you like Horizon Zero Dawn with 60 fps?
