Asmongold criticizes Youtubes Dislike
YouTube recently announced that dislikes are abolished in the current form. While users are able to evaluate a video with a thumb down, but the number of dislikes is only displayed to the YouTuber itself.
Many users are not very satisfied with this change. For many, the dislike number was a great way to filter out videos with false information or the like directly. According to YouTube, these changes were made above all to protect YouTuber from Hate attacks and to make the platform a safer place.
Mongol exercises hard criticism
This statement is not true, for example, the Twitch Star Mongol. This published a series of tweets about the topic in which he promotes the video platform, among other censorship. According to him, the platform is also not safer by this change, rather the exact opposite.
It was already possible to deactivate comments or the like / dislike function for a video. This could not be given more feedback. According to Mongol, however, this new change can spin a wrong story that users a video very positive a video, although the community represents the opposite opinion.
The streamer also went to a topic, which many of you certainly have already experienced. If you are looking for a problem for a problem on YouTube, the dislike number is often a good way to not recognize very helpful videos directly and save a little time.
Mongol also talked about the topic in his twitch stream:
Removing dislikes makes the platform friendlier towards corporations operating propaganda and criticized by the audience.
In addition to Mongol, great names such as PewDiePie and QC spoke against the new system. For both community figures, this change is simply a huge mistake.
The announcement video about the change has on YouTube currently (still) about five times as many dislikes as Likes.
